Hello!

Hello, everyone -- friends old, new, and yet to be! I'm so, so pleased to launch this brand new blog that I hope will become an outlet for so many things in my life and on my mind/heart.

I've been blogging or journaling in some form for as long as I can remember, but only once or twice have I taken on a project that I felt I could "soar" with and could help guide me toward better things ahead. It was so easy to abandon one once I had the feeling that it was too pressuring or I couldn't devote the time/energy to it. This time, my only goal is basically to create something I love that'll allow me to be myself and connect with others. It would hold a story and aesthetic all mine that won't sway me to give up or lose my motivation. And, the name "Briars & Bows" only occurred to me because I wanted the blog's tone to reflect some of the pretty, graceful, and whimsical things I love -- like bunnies in briar patches, pastel colors, and big, elaborate bows!

Because I, as a 20-something human girl, obviously have much deeper everyday circumstances and personal emotions sharing my life, I only expect this to be a moderately personal blog focused mostly on hobbies and interests. Of course, friends I've known long and well know where to find me to discuss anything very personal, so I feel I shouldn't let myself get carried away here when there are much more fun things to write about. ;)

Some things you probably can expect to turn up in these pages, once I've settled in a bit more, are:
- My dolls and toys! From American Girl, Pullip, and Lalaloopsy to My Little Pony and Sonic figures, each toy in my care has her/his own story and honored place. I should also probably mention at this point that sometimes I use the word "collect" very loosely. Some of my most loved and valued "companions" are one of their kind, and I may or may not show interest in adding more of that line to my "family". But, more often than not, I'm eager to learn about all kinds of dolls/toys and their makers so that I can have a better guide, whether for collecting or just to know more.
- Discussions and mentions of fictional characters/worlds, both my own and others'. I want to consider myself imaginative, and I owe the feeling to all the different works I've encountered and loved over the years, whether in literature, animation, or anywhere else good stories live. ;)
- Commentary on and reviews of music, books, and film/TV, always with the disclaimer that even though I personally like something, I can't always fully recommend it to others for whatever reason. Just use your own discretion; I won't mind at all.
- Faith exploration, my journeys through independence training and college classes, and other lightly- to medium-personal subjects that I don't mind sharing with newer friends and readers. In a way, it really isn't that surprising that weightier things can flow over into other, more pleasurable areas of my life, and I know that some users of the "blogosphere" can lend a better ear to these things than I might think at first.
- The occasional sample of my own writing and/or artwork. Constructive criticism is always welcomed! ;)

I am so grateful for the inspiration that poured in to create this new "canvas" and hope it will help lead to some wonderful, exciting, blessed new adventures for me! I can't wait to get started! :)

❤ K.
